![]() Clamps! If you are doing this project alone, clamps are awesome.Metal Hardware: If you don’t use screws at all, the metal hardware connects one piece of wood with the other, and in conjunction with the glue, it worked just right.Since my screws let me down, I ended up using metal hardware to reinforce my joints. The glue is actually more important, I’d say, but still try to do both. I should have used something smaller like 1 inch with a smaller head, or actual pocket hole screws. Complete transparency– the screws I used in my pocket holes were way too big. I prefer to buy the 8oz bottles because my bigger bottles tend to dry out because I forget to close them. Our overall frame came out to be 37×62 inches.Įverything else I had on hand at home, so I did not add up any of these costs when I decided to call this a $5 farmhouse mirror. We considered the 1×2 furring strips, but we ended up liking 1x3s better. Really, any wood will work, I just wanted go to with the cheapest I could find in case I didn’t like how the project turned out– this was definitely not the case, I love it! Note: The size of your wood is totally up to you. ![]() For some reason, at my Home Depot, they were not next to the 1×2 furring strips, they were in the back where it was labeled, “Hobby Wood.” Strange.
